When it comes to sales in the engineering sector, negotiation becomes a complex process that requires technical precision, empathy, and the ability to make quick decisions. These are exactly the qualities that define Tako Pkhaladze, Sales Manager at Baumer. Her journey from journalism to engineering systems sales taught her that the key to success lies in listening and truly understanding clients’ needs. However, Tako’s role within the company extends far beyond sales. She is one of the architects of Baumer’s corporate culture, bringing team members together around shared values through a common love of books. How is the balance between strict discipline and a creative environment achieved? Tako Pkhaladze shares her story.
My world has been connected to books and creative exploration since childhood. The curiosity that awakened with every new page became the guiding compass of my personality. Yet reading alone was never enough—my character was shaped by discipline and physical challenges. The countless hours spent at the piano taught me attention to detail and concentration, while swimming convinced me that pushing beyond one’s limits is the best path toward achieving goals. To this day, an active lifestyle, responsibility, and a constant desire for growth remain the driving forces of my life.
When the time came to choose a profession, I had complete freedom. I followed my inner calling and enrolled in the Faculty of Journalism. During my student years, working in editorial offices and meeting fascinating people confirmed that communication was my natural strength. However, it was practical experience that ultimately led me to discover my true vocation.
By a twist of fate and a friend’s recommendation, I found myself in a completely different field—sales. At the time, I could never have imagined that my communication skills would evolve into nine years of successful experience in this profession. From retail sales to corporate and dealer relations, every stage became a new adventure. Within just a few months, I realized an important truth: sales are not merely a series of transactions; they are a constant search for new opportunities and a journey into understanding people.
Baumer entered my life precisely when I was ready for a new challenge. Here, I found what every professional dreams of—strong ethics, teamwork, and a family-like atmosphere. I often think that if I had not entered the engineering field, I might have become a surgeon. These two professions are remarkably similar: both require absolute precision, quick decision-making, and immense responsibility.
As a Sales Manager, I do not simply sell products. I listen to clients, understand their real needs and technical challenges, and ensure that every promise turns into a tangible result. For me, the greatest satisfaction comes from knowing that my knowledge and actions create meaningful change.
The diversity of my workdays is enriched by another special role—I am the ambassador of Baumer’s Readers’ Club. The company has established various clubs to support employee motivation, and I have the privilege of bringing together colleagues who share a passion for books. It gives me the opportunity to share my lifelong love of literature and foster a sense of cultural harmony within the workplace.
We regularly organize activities, gather for discussions, and exchange ideas about books. This process strengthens team communication just as effectively as working on complex projects. It creates unity and motivation, encourages the exchange of ideas, and, most importantly, provides a space for personal expression. Every positive piece of feedback I receive from colleagues serves as a tremendous source of energy and inspiration.
Baumer is a place where professionalism and human values blend harmoniously. It is an environment where we work toward a shared goal, where even the most challenging projects are completed through teamwork and mutual support, and where we provide our clients with confidence, reliability, and stability.
